Permanent Exhibition of Religious Art

exposicion_arte_sacro01When you pass through the gateway to the parish, we found a small room, like a window which houses the remains of the past in this town. An example of this are the tombstones from the castle church or pictures immortalizing the illustrious sons of Benabarre, paintings dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The collection consists of religious character of the first Gothic altarpiece of St. Helena in the early fourteenth century, one of the main parts and only example of painting on wood. As an example of Romanesque sculpture, Benabarre has a polychrome sculpture of the Virgin called Linares. Dated around 1100 comes from the monastery of the same name in the vicinity of this population. The Virgin and Child was airbrushed and the side walk was replaced by a Romanesque Gothic style.

The funds of the church of Santa Maria, complete with gold collection, which highlights the chest of San Medardo that Italian workshops developed in embossed silver in the sixteenth century would carry the saint's relics.
