Since the end of last June 2013, Benasque has a small Museum of typical Benasqués Costume, located in the Palace of the Counts of Ribagorza. Curated by the expert Miguel Ángel Lahoz, the permanent exhibition allows to show the traditional Benasquesa clothing, disappeared decades ago and very interesting, since it provides pieces that are not dressed in other valleys.
The museum currently has two showcases in which you can see examples of both the costumes and the accessories that the old neighbors wore. Several lithographs of the time and explanatory panels are added that guide the visitor, offering all the information rescued from among the papers and several documents of the town hall itself or the houses of the municipality.
The idea of creating an area, a museum space within the Palace of the Counts of Ribagorza, dedicated to the Benasqué costume, arose as a result of a course that took place years ago in Benasque, and proposed by the association "La Flló de Neu" on traditional clothing, they were the first recovery works, the city council then took over the relay to, by the hand of Lahoz, enable this museum infrastructure that is intended to be completed in the coming years.
