Ethnographic Museum of the Lierp Valley

museo_etnogra_lierp02It is located in the building of the old abbey of Serrate, next to the parish church. The project was promoted by the City Council of the Lierp Valley, in order to give a new use to the part of the old abbey, enhance the municipality and its surroundings as a tourist and cultural destination, and revitalize it by providing it with a new cultural and exhibition space. For this, the City Council had the collaboration of the Cultural Association Turbón Valle de Lierp.

The new museum proposes a thematic tour of the two conditioned rooms of the abbey, which are located, in turn, on two floors with a total area of about 100 square meters. The tour begins in an area where the Lierp valley is 'presented' and then invites the visitor to enter the world of work in the field with farming tools, day to day, the house, daily chores and forgotten trades and traditions, rites and popular devotion.

Almost all the objects on display have been donated by residents of the Lierp Valley and many of them have been restored by the Turbón Valle de Lierp Cultural Association.
