Circular Route 7. Ventamillo Gorge

The Run – Seira - The Run

Description

Description

The Ventamillo Gorge is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the Aragonese Pyrenees. This impressive canyon closes off access to the Benasque Valley from the south, where imposing limestone walls narrow above the Ésera River and the N-260 highway. The proposed route allows you to circle the gorge along both banks, in a challenging circular hike with significant elevation changes, but rewarded with unbeatable views of the cliffs, the Ésera Valley, and the Maladeta massif.

This is a natural area of great value , with abundant protected animal species and lush forests of beech, oak, and pine trees that accompany hikers for much of the route. The diverse landscape makes this trail a unique experience for mountain hiking enthusiasts.

The route combines ancient traditional paths that for centuries connected the villages of El Run and Seira , making it possible to start the trail from either of them. The paths, well-preserved in many sections, convey the essence of rural life in the Ribagorza region.

In addition to its beautiful landscapes and natural beauty, the route offers the opportunity to discover the area's historical and artistic heritage . Very close to El Run stands the Hermitage of Our Lady of Grace , a jewel of Aragonese Romanesque architecture that adds cultural value to the journey.

In short, the Ventamillo Gorge route is a perfect combination of nature, history and Pyrenean tradition.
