The Cabañera Trail PR-HU 102 is a route that follows the path of ancient transhumance routes , used for centuries by shepherds to move livestock between summer pastures in the mountains and winter grazing areas in the plains. Today, this route has become an attractive hiking trail in Ribagorza , offering walkers unobstructed views of the Baliera and Noguera Ribagorzana river basins.

The route begins in the village of Castanesa , from where we set off along the street that leaves the town center at the top. After leaving the village behind, the path enters an area of ​​fields and mountain meadows , flanked by diverse vegetation that hints at the area's natural richness. Gradually, we reach the Collado de la Forca pass , a landmark from which we begin an ascent to the Tozal de Quatre Bogues peak , crossed via a wide firebreak that affords us unobstructed panoramic views.

From this summit, the route descends to the Benifons pass , a strategic point where the PR-HU 102 and PR-HU 101 (Camino del Correo) trails converge. Continuing uphill along the firebreak, we reach the Gibebrell hilltop , where we leave the wide track to take a path that, after a short distance, leads us to the hermitage of San Aventín . This small chapel is an ideal place to rest and contemplate the breathtaking views over the surrounding valleys, which showcase the perfect blend of livestock farming tradition and natural landscape.

The return journey follows the same route to Castanesa, thus completing a journey that combines nature, culture and historical memory of transhumance.
