The second stage of the GR 15 Gabás – Saravillo trail is one of the most varied and spectacular sections of the Pre-Pyrenean Pyrenean Trail , connecting the valleys of the Ésera and Cinqueta rivers. This route not only links two regions—Ribagorza and Sobrarbe—but also offers hikers a complete high and mid-mountain experience , combining forests, ravines, hermitages, and glacial lakes.

The route begins in the small village of Gabás , next to its parish church. From there, the path descends to the Subirana ravine, which we cross before reaching a flatter section that leads to Seira Nuevo . We cross the Ésera River via a bridge and enter Seira , exiting again through the upper part of the village. At this point, the GR 15 briefly coincides with the PR-HU 51, although they soon diverge: the GR continues to the left towards a pass that leads to the old monastery of San Pedro de Tabernes.

The path climbs steeply through oak and pine forests , offering magnificent views over the valley. After crossing the Aigüeta de Barbaruens ravine, we ascend towards the hermitage of San Cristóbal , overlooking the town of the same name. Further on, the trail enters a pine forest and reaches the Gargalluso waterfall, one of the most beautiful spots on the route. The climb continues parallel to the Bilsé ravine to the Armeña refuge, the gateway to the Cotiella massif.

From here, the ascent to the Colladeta del Ibón begins , marking the regional boundary. The descent towards Sobrarbe takes us to the magical Ibón de Plan, also known as Basa de la Mora , surrounded by black pine forests, before finally reaching the Labasar refuge and beginning the final descent to Saravillo , the end point of this second stage.
