Below you will find a selection of routes with their main data (type, distance, time, elevation gain) and a detailed description of each route.
S-9. Salenques Valley
We start from the parking area located on the N-230 national highway next to the bridge over the Salenques River, near the end of the Baserca Reservoir. Leaving the parking area, we head towards the reservoir and, if the water level allows, pass under the bridge, taking the path that coincides on this side of the river with the GR 11 (marked with red and white blazes). This path ascends along the right bank of the river, passing through a lush forest of centuries-old beech and fir trees.
After approximately 50 minutes of walking, we will reach the metal footbridge that allows us to cross to the opposite bank and begin our return along the left bank of the river. At this point, we leave the GR 11 trail and our route leads us back to the Salenques bridge via the sunny side of the river.
S-10. Llauset Lake – Botornás Lake – Angliós Lakes
We start from Lake Llauset, next to the dam, at an altitude of 2.182 meters. From the dam parking area, we cross the small stone tunnel and find directional signs towards the different lakes and the trailhead panel. Our trail continues straight ahead, skirting Lake Llauset, before climbing towards the unstaffed Botornás refuge, located a few meters before the lake of the same name.
After skirting this lake, the path ascends to the Cap de Llauset lake, and from there the route turns southeast, climbing towards the Coll dels Ibons pass. Once at the top of the pass, the route descends through a jumble of boulders, first reaching the small Cap de Angliós lakes and then the larger Angliós lakes, near which is the unguarded Angliós refuge.
To return to the starting point, we must ascend the Coll d'Angliós pass, and once at the top, the path descends, leading us back to the shores of the Ibón de Llauset lake. The entire route coincides with various sections of the GR 11 long-distance trail (marked with red and white blazes).
S-12. Aneto village – Sendero de la Creu
The trail begins along the old road opened by the Enher hydroelectric company from the village of Aneto to the Morelló weir in the Llauset ravine, along which we will pass by the viewpoint over the Noguera Ribagorzana valley and enjoy a path with varied vegetation.
From the weir (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes), the trail returns to the village along the canal that carries water to the Senet power plant's surge tank. This canal offers stunning views of the valley and a gentle slope, but its difficulty lies in the narrowness of some sections and the risk of rockfalls on rainy days, as it passes through a narrow ledge in an impressive rock face.
Once we reach the loading chamber, it's important to stay on the marked path and pay attention to the signs. Continuing along the canal, the trail will lead us back to the lower part of the village of Aneto.
S-13. Aneto town – Malmarrui Trail
To begin this trail, we start from the village of Aneto and take the forest track towards Ibón de Llauset. About 50 meters from the edge of the village, we take a path to our right in a northerly direction, where we will find the trailhead sign.
We continue along the path, gaining altitude and zigzagging until we reach a flatter pasture area where the Malmarrui cabin is located, a recently rebuilt shepherd's refuge where we can take shelter from a summer storm.
We left the cabin behind and headed west, climbing the hillside until we reached the highest point of our route. From there, we followed the ridge and changed sides, continuing along the marked path until we reached a directional sign indicating Nestuy's stables.
We must pay attention to the trail markers as they descend to a ledge near the forest track. Following our route, we will eventually join the GR 11 (marked with red and white blazes), which continues downhill until it reaches the paved forest track. We will cross it initially and then continue along it at a sharp bend near the village of Aneto.
