The Ribagorza region is committed to mountain biking.

The Ribagorza region, through its Tourism Competitiveness Plan, continues to improve and enhance the sports tourism opportunities offered by its municipalities. After creating a comprehensive network of paths and trails for hiking and Nordic walking, the Pyrenean region is now focused on improving its mountain biking routes. By next June, it expects to offer a total of 28 fully signposted and marked routes for mountain bike enthusiasts.

The project is part of the Tourism Competitiveness Plan (PCT) that Ribagorza has been developing in recent years to boost the tourism resources of its territory and to be able to offer a varied and well-sized offer, especially that related to sport and nature.

In fact, in recent years, the region has made a great effort to create a complete network of trails, with options in all municipalities and suitable for different activities: hiking, Nordic walking, birdwatching, long-distance trails (GR) and short-distance trails (PR), circular trails and even bicycles.

The current focus is on promoting the trails and tracks that are ideal for mountain biking. Therefore, the plan is to clearly mark and signpost 28 routes located throughout the region, ranging from the most challenging to the easiest and most accessible.

Among others, the routes to be marked include the Vuelta a la Sierra de Chía, the Montsec circular route, the trans-Pyrenean route as it passes through Bonansa, the area around Graus, and the Sierra del Castillo de Laguarres. Plans also include marking some of the routes included in the mountain bike circuit races promoted by the Ribagorza Regional Sports Service, such as the Jorge Rami Memorial race between Benasque and Llanos del Hospital, and the Serraduy – Coll de Vent mountain bike race.

The signage and marking of the trails are expected to be completed by next June. The aim is to be able to enjoy them and offer them as a new attraction to those visiting the Ribagorza region this summer. Once the infrastructure is finished, it will be added to the region's tourism website, and a general map with all the mountain biking routes and a collection of fact sheets for each route will be published.
