Mountaineering in the Pyrenees reaches one of its most spectacular settings in Ribagorza. This region is home to the two highest peaks in the mountain range, Aneto (3.404 m) and Posets (3.375 m), true icons for adventure mountaineering enthusiasts . Furthermore, the head of the Benasque Valley boasts the highest concentration of peaks over three thousand meters in all of Spain, with up to forty-five summits and numerous glacial lakes.

To facilitate access to these peaks, the region has staffed mountain huts such as Estós, La Renclusa, and Ángel Orús, open year-round, as well as free refuges like Armeña, Vallibierna, and La Plana del Turbón.
